The Research Centre for Social Ecology and Climate Change brings together researchers from the Institute for Sociology, the Institute for Political Science and the Institute for Legal Studies. The hub conducts national and international research on social ecology, sustainability and the social impacts of climate change. It coordinates and presents research, thematic lecture series and conferences on these topics within the framework of the Centre for Social Sciences. It aims to develop a network and establish partnership with scientific institution, civic organization and economic actors in the field of ecological sustainability. It plans and carry out joint research with research institutes and civic organizations in Hungary and abroad.
The Centre aims to become one of the leading research institutes on this topic in Hungary and to play a coordinating role between actors and stakeholders of the field. Through all these activities, the Centre seeks to ensure that inevitable social changes due to environmental degradation occur with as little social loss as possible in Hungary.
